Shawdesh Desk: The Awami League (AL) will hold the national council in December this year, according to our correspondent.
Earlier, it was known that the national council will be held in October.
“There will be no national council of Awami League before this,” said AL general secretary Obaidul Quader while responding to a query during an inspection of the BRTA mobile court’s operations at Dhaka’s Manik Mia Avenue in the capital.
The Awami League re-elected Sheikh Hasina as President while Obaidul Quader as General Secretary during its 20th triennial council on October 22-23, 2016.
In the 20th triennial council, Awami League Presidium Member Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury proposed Hasina’s name as president. Syed Ashraful Islam, who served as general secretary of the party for two terms, proposed the name of Quader as his successor. Both Hasina and Quader were elected unopposed.
